Here's some information to help answer your questions!

Where is your studio located? Two Hearts One River Massage Studio is conveniently located in downtown Ely, Minnesota near the intersection of Sheridan and Central. When you schedule your appointment, we'll give you easy directions.

Note: Dave also offers Mobile Massage at your home or cabin and offers year-round massage services at Camp du Nord on Burnside Lake.

When should I arrive for my appointment?
Please plan to arrive a few minutes prior to your scheduled time so you can settle in and not be rushed. If this is your first appointment you will fill out a Health History form and read and sign the Client Bill of Rights as required by the State of Minnesota.

What is the typical length of an appointment?
Regardless of the amount of time you have booked: 60, 90 or 120 minutes, you can count on hands-on massage for the full time. For your scheduling, add on a few minutes before and after your massage so you have plenty of time.

Do you use any form of assessment?
Yes, there is a Health History form to fill out the first time you come for an appointment, used to determine if there are any symptoms or conditions that make a particular treatment or procedure inadvisable. You are encouraged to let Dave know particular physical issues you're dealing with and your expectations of massage. Dave  works with you to ensure the best experience and outcome.

What should I wear for my massage?
You are in charge of your massage experience. Many clients undress completely while others choose to leave some clothing on. Dave will not be in the room when you undress and get under the covers. You will be modestly draped during your entire massage. Always let Dave know if something is not working for you and appropriate changes will be made. Please refrain from wearing strong fragrances.

What can I expect during my massage?
The comfort and safety of our clients is of utmost importance. With this in mind, it is important for you to voice your level of comfort with positioning, temperature, pressure, etc. Feel free to remain silent and center yourself within your body. Understand that during any deep tissue work there is usually some communication about techniques, pressure, pain, and location so that you receive the most benefit. A successful session depends on the partnership that you and your therapist engage in.

What happens after my massage?
You'll have plenty of time to dress, have a cool drink of water and chat with Dave if you wish. You will not be rushed or cross paths with another client.


What should I do with my valuables?
Please keep all personal items with you in the massage room.

What forms of payment may I use?
We accept payment by credit card, cash or check.

Is it customary to leave a gratuity?

Although many people do, it is not an obligation or expectation.

What is your cancellation policy?
Please contact us by phone or text 218-235-1665 at least 24 hours in advance of the appointment you wish to cancel or reschedule. Please do not cancel via email.

What training do you have?

Dave has completed 1252 hours of therapeutic and related massage training plus eastern bodywork training at the CenterPoint Massage & Shiatsu Therapy School & Clinic in Minneapolis, MN.

He successfully completed the National Board Examination and is a Certified Massage Therapist through the National Certification Board of Massage Therapy and Bodywork.

Dave enjoys learning and completes  continuing education courses to improve his knowledge and technique; he is a current professional member of The American Massage Therapy Association.

Are massage therapists regulated in Minnesota?

Massage therapists in Minnesota are not required to be licensed and the State has no standards of education or practice of massage therapy. However, any practitioner of a healing specialty that does not require a medical license MUST present you with a Client Bill of Rights. This document outlines information about the practitioner, their business policies and your rights as a client. You will receive a copy of the Client Bill of Rights to sign at your first session.
